The Fent Shop, Skipton
Skipton, “Gateway to the Dales” is a bustling market town and tourism centre where the more adventurous visitor wandering off the beaten track and along the narrow “ginnels” is liable to stumble across totally unexpected fascination. Originally named Sheep Town, Skipton is an historic town where one of its fascinating hidden treasures is tucked away just off Keighley Road in the form of The Fent Shop! Fabrics, wools, patterns, curtains etc; are all here in this sewer's paradise!
‘Fent’ is a local term which in years gone by meant a remnant of fabric measured and sold by weight. The Fent Shop has always enjoyed the reputation of being a sewer’s paradise but now non-sewers too are drawn to this establishment, many in the form of coach parties and group bookings, who can only stand and wonder at this Aladdin’s Cave of fabrics, cushions, throws, duvets, rugs wools, furniture and curios.
The Fent Shop is a fascinating establishment, welcoming of visitors curious for more information. Just look at the vast range of designer fents, fabric rolls, and craft cottons. The Fent Shop is the largest fabric shop for miles around and also has the largest stock of wools and patterns.
They offer a curtain making service and curtain poles, hand forged by a local blacksmith are high on the shopping list of those wanting something unique and individual from the unique and individual Fent Shop.
